Bayern Munich announce home kits will only feature red and white from now on after fan complaints about the prominence of blue on this season’s strip… the main colour of rivals 1860
- Supporter unrest led to Bayern Munich adopting new policy for home kits
- Blue will no longer appear on the kits as it is the prominent colour of 1860
- Over recent years, blue had been featured increasingly on the Bayern’s kits
Bayern Munich have announced that blue will no longer feature on their home kit after discussions with fans.
In recent seasons, blue has been added to their first-choice strip, but supporters have complained as it is the primary colour of main rivals Munich 1860.
Bayern’s latest kit features blue shorts and blue trim on the socks and shirt. Previous attire, including the 2014-15 strip, had several vertical stripes along the shirt, at the time a big break from tradition.
The club’s current kit has been criticised because of it’s blue shirt trim and blue shorts
Supporters’ groups have also complained about the green away kit and third jersey in purple, claiming they do not reflect the club’s history.
Director Jorg Wacker told the club’s website: ‘FC Bayern München AG has been in conversation with fan representatives about the use of club colours in kits.

‘For fans, kits represent an important sign of identity with their club.
‘FC Bayern München AG has thus announced that in future, only the club’s traditional colours of red and white will be used in official match clothing – that is the home kit comprising shirt, shorts and socks.
‘We will also stay in regular contact with fan representatives in relations to kits.’
